RE/MAX Partners Offices Collect Used Cell Phones to help Secure the Call Foundation

     RE/MAX Partners has teamed with Secure the Call Foundation, a non-profit organization, to collect old cell phones. The phones will be redistributed to those who need a cell phone for the purpose of calling 911 in the event of an emergency.

    “There are thousands of cell phones sitting in drawers and closets that could help our citizens feel safe and secure by converting them into free 911 emergency-use cell phones. Since RE/MAX Partners has 7 offices throughout Broward County , we can accommodate residents in all areas of the County,” said Larry Revier, Broker/Owner. “We are happy to provide designated drop-off points for the project and to do our part to make our community a safer place,” he continued.  

      Secure the Call Foundation takes the phones, inspects them, cleans them, charges their batteries and then reprograms them to be used as free 911 emergency phones. Any phone that can be turned on can be used to call 911 even without a carrier service plan. The goal is to make a free cell phone available to anyone who needs one. Targeted areas for distribution may include; domestic violence shelters, senior centers, neighborhood watch groups, school crossing guards and many other agencies.

     Those who donate used cell phones will be provided with a donation acknowledgement to claim the donation as a deduction on their taxes.
